We will be flying to India this Saturday to attend a good friend’s wedding and then we will be touring around Southern India for 2 weeks.
Like our previous trip, I’ve created a page dedicated for this trip. Click here if you’re interested to see where and what we’ll be doing for the next 2.5 weeeks.
On the second day of the new year, Dav and I went out with a purpose. We walked around West End looking for London’s unusual places with an objective to take pictures. We bought the guide last year and only now we started using it.
We found lots of interesting places. For example, did you know that Somerset House used to be a palace and that you can find a roman bath in London?!??

Definitions of numpty on the Web:
- An idiot or fool
- a stupid person (mainly used in Scotland)
Tuesday night (05.01.10)
The whole department received an email from my big boss, advising us to make sensible decision on whether to travel to office, seeing the snow was predicted to be falling heavily. As you know, UK can’t handle severe weather very well. Everything stops when the whole country experience severe weather.
So everyone waited anxiously for the heavy snow fall to make it to London from the North.
Wednesday morning (06.01.10)
To prevent being stuck in the train or waiting a long time for a train to get to central London, I decided to work from home (Thanks to remote access!). At 0930, we received another email from the big boss. He has been stuck in the train for 2 hours and won’t make it in the office. Obviously he didn’t follow his own advice.
Half hour later, he forwarded us the email he sent out the night before with a question why didn’t he follow his own advice and hope that everyone is not caught in the transport disruption like him.
Then he started a Numpty List and put his own name on the list. And so a chain of emails started as he proceed to find out who attempted to get to office. By the end of the day, the following lists were created:
- Numpty List – Besides the big boss, 2 other colleagues attempted to get to office with one stuck in the train and the other’s car going bonkus outside his house’s driveway.
- Sensible List – Majority were in this list for staying at home.
- Super Soldier List – A colleague whose birthday was today, walked to work with knee high snow and still make it to office. So she’s been listed in the ‘Super Soldier’ list.
- Fat Soldier List – Our EA made it to office and threaten to finish the chocolates on our dept snack table. So the big boss created this list for her. hahahahahaha
It has occurred to me that Dav and I do not have a lot of opportunities to take picture as a couple when we’re out and about. Most of the time we take each other’s picture or will be busy taking picture of something with our own camera. The situation is not improving now since I got my own DSLR.
Anyhow, when my youngest sis came to visit, she took a very nice picture of us in Borough Market. What do you think?? I really like it.

This picture was taken with Canon 450D.
We went to Crosby Coastal Park for a walk after brunch on Christmas Day. It is such a lovely beach with superb view and sculptures.
The beach has 100 cast-iron, life-size figures spread out along the 3 kms of the foreshore, stretching almost 1 km out to sea. The spectacular figures are made by Angel of the North artist Antony Gormley. The artwork is called ‘Another Place’. The Another Place figures – each one weighing 650 kilos – are made from casts of the artist’s own body standing on the beach, all of them looking out to sea, staring at the horizon in silent expectation.
From afar the figures looks like real human. During high tide, a few of them are half submerged in the water. Quite scary if you didnt know that it’s only a sculpture.
Definitely worth a visit, especially to take some pictures. Visit my Flickr page to see more photographs taken at the park.
