Shoe shopping

June 14th, 2010 Steph No comments

I’m not much of a shoe person. 2 pairs of working shoes will last me at least 1 year. Then since living in London, I’ve added boots to my shoe collection.

When I was in Brazil, I went slightly crazy shopping for shoes. This is partly becos my colleague keep telling me Brazilian leather is very good. So I ended up buying a pair of boots, a pair leather heels and 2 pair of Havaianas (one World Cup limited edition).

I won’t need to buy another pair of shoes for a very very long time. :)

Bursting bubble

April 12th, 2010 Steph 1 comment

I remember when I was young I LOVE to press the bubble on the bubble wrap when I can get whole of some in my dad’s office. Somehow listening and feeling the bubble bursting is very soothing for me… and I wont be able to stop until I finish pressing all the bubbles.

Last week I received a packaged which was wrapped with bubble wrap. This has triggered my obsession with pressing all the bubbles! Dav thinks that I’m making a lot of noise when I do that at home (mainly cos it’s already very late at night). So I carry the bubble wrap in my handbag everywhere I go. I did that for a good one week until a friend asked me why I carry a piece of bubble wrap… hahahahaha

So I took the bubble wrap to office and left it on my desk. Today I started pressing it again when I saw it and couldn’t stop myself. I think I annoyed the hell out of everyone who sits around me…. until one of my manager told me off (jokingly of course)… hahahahahah

My journey to finish pressing all the bubbles continues…..

The bubble wrap is on my office desk waiting for me!

Loving my Amazon Kindle

February 7th, 2010 Steph 2 comments

The title says it all. I have not been able to put it down since I received it in Dec.

So far I’ve read the following 3 books:

  1. Conspiracy in Kiev – Not a very good crime/ thriller book. It’s a trilogy. Do not intend to read the second book.
  2. Hush, Hush – Trying to cash in on the current vampire stories (whether its movie or books), it’s a nice read overall.
  3. Postmortem – An old classic by Patricia Cronwell. Definitely a good read!

I am currently reading, Six Suspects by Vikas Swarup. The same author that wrote Slumdog Millionaire.

Season of giving

December 13th, 2009 Steph 5 comments

I received my Christmas gift early this year. It’s quite funny how we’re not Christian but we still adopt the practice of giving gifts. There was no gift last year as we bought the PS3 and the year before Dav bought me a DS Lite.

So, I came home late on Thursday night and found a nicely wrapped box on the bed, waiting for me. The box was shipped from Amazon, USA. There can only be one item in there… indeed it was theĀ Kindle! If you have never heard about this gadget, it’s an electronic book reader. I’ve always wanted one.

It is a black and white e-book reader, about the size of A5 (half of A4). The look and feel is very sleek and smooth.

Look how slim the e-reader is.

So besides Dav giving me a present, I’ve also decided to give myself a present to reward myself. I finally bought myself a DSLR. I got the Canon 7D. Now I can proudly say I’m a owner of a DSLR!

Building a Lego House

August 2nd, 2009 Steph No comments

Last weekend, I read an article in BBC website about how James May (one of Top Gear presenter) is going to build a Lego House in Dorking, Surrey and is asking for volunteers. Straight away I sent an email to the email address posted on the website, offering my help!

The building was meant to start today (Sat). However I was quite disappointed when I received a reply from the company organising the event early this week. It say that due to ‘huge level of interest’ they are turning this into a ticketed event, free of charge. But basically they are handing out tickets on a first come first serve basis. As this is not exactly near to London, there’s no way I’m gonna make a trip to Dorking, early Saturday morning on my own!

Plus I’ve already bought ticket to attend the ‘Simply Red Picnic Concert’.

Anyway I thought that this was quite a unique initiative and wanted to be part of the experience. James May is quite an eccentric person. Back in April 09, he actually created a garden using plasticine at the Chealsea Flower Show AND won a special award for it! It was the first of its kind!

So now he’s gonna attempt to build a life size house using only Lego with a fully working toilet and stay in it for a few days…

Apparently people actually started queuing at 0430! If I have a car… I might just re-consider….
